Hi everyone, thanks again for joining us here on The Tennis Menu, I just wanted to reach out again to you all and see how everyone is doing. Hopefully things are going okay for you. You're obviously in isolation, a lot of us are in the same boat, from tennis coaches and players to the majority of the world, so hopefully you're all keeping yourselves occupied.
The purpose of today is to look at things that we can do while we're in this situation, as I think we generally look at all the things that we can't do. Yes, we can't go to the tennis court and practice, we can go to a gym, a lot of us can't go to work. Today is all about looking at the little things we can do, and I think it's important to be creative in these times. It's important to become the best you that you possibly can be.
I heard Kobe Bryant speak on a podcast before he passed away, and he mentioned he's not scared of failing.
He's not looking to be the best he can be in terms of the world, but he looks at being the best him every single day.
I think we can take a lot from that. I feel like we're always competing against other people. But when you're in isolation you can't compete against others, you can only do what you can. I think it's important to to do the best and to be the best you can once we walk away from this whole situation that we're all in at the moment.
There's so many things that are more accessible than ever to us these days.
- Go on Google and research things that you want to learn about.
- Listen to TED talks.
- Watch YouTube videos and think about things that you can possibly do.
- Go watch some tennis matches and research.
I think it's about clearing our mind and learning as much as we possibly can. We rely on coaches to be the one to teach us, but how about we go away and do that ourselves.
Today's message is all about: be the best you. Learn about the things that you want to learn about and take the initiative. Don't wait for someone else to do it, and I hope you can actually become better after being in isolation. So when you get back on your tennis court, you'll have a lot more knowledge and you'll have a lot more that you can take onto the court with you. And obviously play better tennis. Hopefully we can all do that and become better versions of ourselves once we walk away from this whole episode of the coronavirus.
I wish you all well and suggest you keep track of what we're doing here on The Tennis Menu, as we're about to launch our tennis drills and instructional activity products really soon. Hopefully we're giving you some ideas that you can do at home while you're in isolation to be able to become better tennis players and better tennis coaches. So enjoy your day, stay positive and let's get through this together.
